Central Main Island Cycling

Located in the central section of the Underwater Road connecting the Yokatsu Peninsula and Henza Island, the Umi no Eki Ayahashi-kan features a shop selling Uruma City specialties, a buffet restaurant, a fresh seafood counter, an ice cream stand, and an outdoor stage. On the second floor is the “Marine Culture Museum,” which houses a collection of historical and folklore materials related to the Yokatsu Peninsula.

This hilly island spans 7 kilometers in circumference. It is home to two villages, Hama and Higa, where residents lead a life of mixed farming and fishing amidst a traditional atmosphere preserved by rows of houses with red-tiled roofs and stone walls.

Located in Uruma City, Okinawa Prefecture, Katsuren Castle (Katsuren Gusuku or Katsuren-jō) is the site of a gusuku (castle) known as Amawari’s Castle. The castle was built on a hill at the southern base of the Katsuren Peninsula and consists of the South Castle, the Middle Castle, and the North Castle.

Uruma Marche is a market complex featuring a direct-sales market for agricultural and marine products, a farm-to-table restaurant serving locally grown vegetables, an outdoor food court, and event spaces. Under the concept of “Revitalizing Uruma through Food,” the market sells agricultural and marine products from Okinawa Prefecture, with a focus on Uruma City.

This "Roadside Station" opened in 2003 in Kadena Town, the birthplace of Japan’s sweet potatoes (kan-sho). It is located just a 5-minute drive from the Kadena Rotary toward Okinawa City, right in front of Kadena Air Base and Anpo no Oka. It is a popular spot because it offers a view of the U.S. military base—a sight rarely seen by the general public.

Opened in 2004, this farmers’ market features a wide variety of souvenirs, primarily consisting of agricultural products and processed goods from Onna Village. It is characterized by its stall-style shops facing the parking lot. Offering a selection of snacks, light meals, and sweets—such as sata andagi—it is a popular stop for travelers on the go.

The townscape, which once flourished as a town near the base gates, is frequently featured in magazines and videos as a prime photo location.
